City of Darwin will hold the last native plant giveaway for the year this Saturday 9 November 2024 at Alawa Oval in Alawa.
More than 2000 native plants will be available for Darwin residents.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the native plant giveaways assisted in enhancing Darwin's natural environment and promoting sustainable urban living.
"We are very proud of our native plant giveaways which continue to be a great success, and we expect to giveaway more than 15,000 free plants over the course of the current financial year," Mr Vatskalis said.
"These giveaways provide residents an opportunity to add local flora to their homes which has been specifically chosen to withstand the local conditions.
"From reducing urban heat to improving air quality, native plants play a vital role in maintaining a healthy environment.
"By planting these species around our neighbourhoods, we're beautifying our surroundings and taking real steps to make Darwin a cool, clean and green city," he said.
There will be a range of plants available, including native trees, shrubs and grasses.
The native plant giveaway will run from 8am to 11am with plants available to Darwin residents only.
There is a limit of six plants per household. Proof of Darwin residency must be provided.
This is the last native plant giveaway for 2024 with the program recommencing in April 2025.
