Last of eight successful introduction days

Today is the last day of the Annual Introduction Days (AID). This year, a total of more than 2,000 students took part, divided over two weeks.

The great thing about the general introduction days is that they are organized for and especially by students. They are supported by several WUR employees, one of which is project leader Sjef Moling: "Wageningen is known for its personal and individual approach to students. The introduction days contribute enormously to a warm welcome at the university. First-year students get to know each other, the city and all the facilities in no time at all. Such a start is important for a good start to your studies and increases study success."

The AID was shortened this year and divided in two because of corona, explains Moling. "Last week and this week we ran an identical program of 4 instead of 6 days. 900 students participated in the first week and more than 1,100 students in the second week. In addition, the activities were spread over four areas in Wageningen, again to be able to maintain sufficient distance from each other."

Examples of activities are, for example, a bike ride, so that new students literally get to know their way around a new city. "In addition, the students receive information about the first weeks of their new study, but also simply how to log in to our systems. A much appreciated activity this year was the College Tour", says Moling, "with well-known speakers such as Jeroen Dijsselbloem or with our rector Arthur Mol."
