Tasmania has experienced the lowest annual increase of CPI in the nation - a direct result of strong action taken by the Tasmanian Liberal Government.
Today's ABS data shows that the Government's cost-of-living relief measures are having a real impact for Tasmanian families.
Hobart recorded a 1.5% increase in CPI for the year to December 2024 - the lowest annual increase in the Nation and 0.9 per cent below the weighted average of all eight capital cities.
Treasurer, Guy Barnett, said that the Tasmanian Liberal Government has the right settings in place to support Tasmanians.
"Like the rest of the country, Tasmanian households have felt the impact of high inflation and high interest rates," the Treasurer said.
"It is clear that our initiatives like our Renewable Energy Dividend and our halving of public transport fares are reducing the burden on Tasmanian households – contributing to the lowest annual CPI change in the country.
"Our expansion of Ticket to Play and our Ticket to Wellbeing are also ensuring Tasmanians can stay active and connected while also having this preventative health measure supported by our Government.
"This is about ensuring Tasmanians can put food on the table, get their kids ready for school and stay active within their communities.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we'll continue to put in place the right settings to ease the cost-of-living for all Tasmanians."
