A new program to address bullying and discrimination in Tasmanian Government schools has been launched today.
The Just One program, provided by community organisation A Fairer World, promotes diversity through storytelling by Tasmanians who have faced exclusion and discrimination.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, congratulatedA Fairer World on its commitment to building a culture of respect and inclusion in Tasmanian schools.
"By using lived experience and face to face interactions, the Just One program helps to share important messages of inclusivity with students," Minister Palmer said.
"Through the lens of others, this program enables students to understand the diverse community they are part of and develop more empathetic skills and behaviours."
The programs are designed to empower students from Years 5 to 12 to advocate amongst their peers for more inclusive learning environments and behaviours. This is done through the power of storytelling by Tasmanians who have been excluded or discriminated against.
A Fairer World delivers its education programs in Tasmanian Government schools through a Grant Deed with the Tasmanian Government.
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we will continue to invest in our schools, our teachers and our students.
