Chiefs and senior enlisted leaders of air and space from around the world came together at Manuka Oval, Canberra, in the lead-up to the 2024 Air and Space Power Conference.
The Chiefs and Senior Enlisted Leaders Team (SELT) Conclave gave members of the delegation a chance to immerse themselves in Australian culture.
The rolling green of the AFL field gave way to stalls and demonstrations, including basket weaving, boomerang throwing and a live AFL game played by RAAF and Space Command teams.
Flight Sergeant Maria Moloney and Leading Aircraftwoman Kate Clarkson explained the history and rules of Aussie rules football to the conclave.
"It's a bit like aerial ping pong," Leading Aircraftwoman Clarkson said as she showcased some skills, tips and tricks to the delegation.
Chiefs had the chance to learn how to throw a boomerang, while senior enlisted leaders passed an Aussie rules football around.
Commander UK Space Command Air Vice Marshal Paul Godfrey felt privileged to be part of the event and participated in the boomerang-throwing workshop.
"It is brilliant to be here at the oval and experience some things that you wouldn't get to experience in the northern hemisphere," he said.
"I love coming to Australia. I love the friendliness of the people; everyone is really welcoming, even if you can't throw a boomerang."
As the siren rang out and the conclave concluded, the chiefs and members of the SELT signed commemorative jerseys to mark the occasion.
Before departing, each chief and member of the SELT received a Space Command or Air Force scarf before coming together for group photos.
