If a career based at home working with children through the most important times in their development sounds interesting, come along to our free Family Day Care Educator sessions this month.
Council currently has positions available for Family Day Care Educators and is inviting potential applicants to take advantage of this month's information sessions, which will not only provide information, but a chance to ask any questions.
Sessions will be held on the following dates and times at the Benetook Room of the Alfred Deakin Centre:
Tuesday 17 March
9.30am to 10.30am
Tuesday 24 March
6.30pm to 7.30pm
Family Day Care Educators work within Council's Family Day Care team and provide care and education to children from six weeks through to pre-teens, based in their own home.
Under the Family Day Care Educator program children are cared for in small groups in a home environment, based in Mildura as well as outlying areas, such as Gol Gol, Irymple, Merbein, Wentworth and Red Cliffs where there are limited childcare options.
Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Gavin Sedgmen said all potential educators need is a warm and secure family-focused environment, and an Education and Care qualification, or a motivation to study.
Potential applicants can also apply for up to $2000 in start-up assistance.
Educators are supported by a skilled and qualified Coordination Unit team who offer support via regular visits, meetings, training and online contact.
"This is a unique opportunity to develop your own education programs based on the needs and interests of individual children while building long-lasting bonds," Cr Sedgmen said.
Cr Sedgmen said this month's information sessions were an opportunity to learn about what is involved in becoming a Family Day Care Educator as well as speak directly to members of the Coordination Unit and ask questions.
