A learner driver has been issued multiple infringement notices for traffic offences in the state's far west overnight.
About 5.45pm yesterday (Thursday 28 January 2021), officers attached to Barrier Highway Patrol Dareton were conducting speed enforcement operations on the Sturt Highway, Monak, when they detected a white Toyota Prado allegedly travelling at 141km/h in the sign posted 110km/h zone.
The driver, a Griffith man aged 25, was stopped and spoken to by police before producing a New South Wales learner driver's licence.
Further checks revealed the licence was suspended.
The man underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Dareton Police Station where he underwent secondary breath analysis which produced a low range reading of 0.74.
The driver was issued with infringement notices for exceed speed limit – more than 45km/h and low range PCA.
He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive suspended – second offence, and driver licence suspension notice.
The vehicle was also found to be unroadworthy and a defect notice was issued.
The man will appear before Wentworth Local Court on Tuesday 6 April 2021.
