Since 2016, Council has replaced approximately 11,100 old technology streetlights in our neighbourhood streets with energy-efficient LEDs. This initiative has reduced greenhouse gas emissions, lowered energy costs, and improved light quality and safety.
Currently, work is underway to replace the remaining 3,300 streetlights on main roads, with completion expected by December 2025.
This streetlight replacement project is a key action in the Council's Climate Response Plan 2021-2031 .
