In addition, the Lions Train will be offering rides for those interested, and the Leeton Rainbow Pride Collective will be hosting a traditional sausage sizzle.

Whitton:

  • The Whitton Pool will also have free entry on the day.

"I'm looking forward to welcoming the community and visitors as well as hosting Leeton's 2025 Australia Day Ambassador Ms Robina Beard OAM," said Mayor Cr George Weston.

Ms Robina Beard OAM is a celebrated entertainer, dancer, and actor, best known for her role of 'Madge' in the long-running Palmolive dishwashing liquid advertisements. A former NSW Seniors Festival Ambassador, Robina continues to inspire by running exercise and tap-dancing classes for seniors. In recognition of her significant contributions to the arts, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2011 and received the Australian Dance Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Mayor Weston, who's also Chairman of the Australia Day Committee, encourages residents and visitors to help commemorate this important National Day of Celebration.

"Australia Day is an opportunity for everyone living in the Leeton Shire to think about what it means to be Australian and is an opportunity to reconnect with each other," he said.

"It's for everyone to share in an opportunity to come together and acknowledge our collective contributions to Australia."

In the spirit of coming together and recognising the contributions and efforts of everyone in the Leeton Shire community, Council is proud to have again worked towards a more inclusive and accessible event which is being supported by members of Leeton's local Aboriginal Community.

"Australia Day is a chance to come together as a shire and celebrate what makes our community special. With events happening across the region, there's something for everyone to enjoy – so get involved, connect with your neighbours, and make it a day to remember," said Leeton Shire Council's Events & Tourism Officer Leigh Houghton.
