Leeton Shire Council is pleased to announce the completion of the new state-of-the-art animal pound facility located at the Council depot site in Vance Estate.
The project, which was first endorsed by Council in November 2023, has now been delivered, marking a significant achievement in enhancing animal welfare standards within Leeton Shire.
The new facility, which has come in on budget at $120,000, is equipped with modern amenities, including spacious enclosures for up to six cats and ten dogs, climate control systems and a small office space. An attached carport has also been constructed to facilitate the loading and unloading of animals.
Manager Planning, Building & Health, Francois Van Der Berg, acknowledged the critical role of Council's Rangers in its successful delivery.
"Our Rangers were integral to the success of this project, managing it internally and ensuring that every detail was attended to with care and precision.
"Thanks to their dedication and keen eye for detail, we have delivered a facility that not only meets but exceeds modern animal welfare standards, all while coming in on budget," Mr Van Der Berg said.
The new animal pound will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for stray and lost pets, ensuring they receive the best possible care while they await reunion with their owners or adoption into loving homes.
The facility was officially opened at a special ribbon cutting ceremony attended by the departing Council on Tuesday, 10 September 2024, and is now fully operational.
