From a Brisbane Broncos CEO to one of Moranbah's favourite sons, Isaac Regional Council Acting Mayor Kelly Vea Vea was on hand today with the International Legends of League line-up announcement.
Cr Vea Vea said during the launch at Darryl Bourke Oval that the Team of NRL Legends and Isaac Region All Stars will draw league fans from across the region on 18 September.
The local All Stars expected to run onto the Moranbah paddock are Travis Norton, Josh Hannay, Jamie McMillan, Michael Eve, Perry Mason, Jay Sabbo, Wayne Sing, Shaun Macklin, Ben Walsh, Joshua Earl, Jimmy Leeder, Craig Baguley, Damian Cavanagh, Pat Prkarier, Mark Finlay, Luke Goodale, Dylan Patteson, Brad Peterson, Jimmy Ahmat, James Kimber, Dale Bloomfield, Justin McKay, Paul Pyziakos, Luke Reynolds and Joel Hopes.
Paul White and Frank Baker have both been named as co-coaches for the Isaac Region All Stars.
Team of NRL Legends are Scott Prince, Ben Hannant, Justin Hodges, David Shillington, Noel Goldthorpe, Darren Smith, Kerry Boustead, Jaiman Lowe, Peter Gill, Craig Teevan, Neville Costigan, Brenton Bower, Steve Jackson, Terry Matterson, Scott Dobbie, Paul Stephan and Steve Lacey.
Cr Vea Vea said the knock-on effect for local communities through re-activating events during COVID is part of Council's goals to deliver programs targeting the wellbeing of Isaac's youth.
Money raised from the exhibition game will be donated to a local charity and local sporting groups operating food and beverage canteens retain its profits.
The exhibition game is set to kick off at 6pm with tickets available at Miners Leagues Club, Moranbah on 18 September as gates open at 1pm featuring various grades between Moranbah, Emerald and Dysart.
Legends of League representative Craig Teevan said the highlight for players will be visiting Moranbah, Dysart, Middlemount, Glenden, Clermont and Nebo schools ahead of the exhibition match.
"This program is about raising awareness of mental health issues and deliver football coaching clinics," Mr Teevan said.
"They will talk about bullying, the potential dangers of social media, youth suicide, health, exercise and promoting self-confidence and wellbeing through their dream, believe, achieve philosophy."
The event is also proudly supported by Community Mental Wellness Partner, the Queensland Government.
