It's the first in a series of comedy showcases to perform at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre, opening this Friday 1 April 2022.
Lennox hasn't seen a comedy gig like this before and the Comedy Gala is charged with bringing huge laughs as well as giving back to the community at a time when it is needed the most.
"The Comedy Commune has always had a focus on community and nurturing local talent. We're delighted to be giving back ten dollars from every ticket sold to the flood relief effort. We're also giving away free tickets to those who have helped in the flood clean ups and those directly affected by the floods. The fact that we can do this in our home town, where 'The Comedy Commune' began seems to be a perfect fit for our ethos." Said John Peacock, The Comedy Commune.
The line-up includes Tommy Dean, star of ABC radio 'Thank God It's Friday', supported by Mel Buttle from 'I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here'. The Great Australian Bake Off, Greg Sullivan, Triple M Brisbane and Matty B. Supported by local comedian Alexandra Hudson, and Raw Comedy winner along with master of ceremonies, David Smiedt, television personality who has opened for the likes of Joan Rivers.
"We are excited to be welcoming events back to the Lennox Head Cultural Centre, after the centre played a huge role in the recent flood recovery efforts." Said Roberta O'Brien, Coordinator Community Facilities for Ballina Shire Council.
"It is great to be working with the Comedy Commune to bring quarterly stand-up comedy to Lennox Head. We love being able to support our community and this event really gives opportunities to up and coming comics to perform alongside professionals. I think the audience is in for a real treat this Friday and we can't wait to get back to doing what we do best at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre with hosting live events." Added Ms O'Brien
