Bredbo residents are advised that as of 12:00pm Wednesday 9 September 2020, Level 4 water restrictions are in place until further notice.
Council is currently carting water to Bredbo. The water in the bores that normally supply Bredbo has failed to improve in quality after recent rainfall caused minor flooding of the Murrumbidgee River.
To keep demand low, Council is placing Bredbo on Level 4 water restrictions. These restrictions aim to eliminate all but essential outdoor water use.
In addition to the outdoor water restrictions, Council is urging residents to minimise water use indoors through measures such as keeping showers under 5 minutes, turning the tap off while brushing teeth, fixing leaking taps and toilets, and only running washing machines and dishwashers when full.
These restrictions will apply to all properties connected to the Bredbo water supply scheme. The restrictions will apply until further notice. More stringent restrictions may be imposed should conditions fail to improve.
Under Section 637 of the Local Government Act 1993, a person who wilfully or negligently wastes or misuses water from the public water supply, or causes any such water to be wasted, is guilty of an offence for which the maximum penalty is a fine of $2,200.
