Tasmanians now have greater access to libraries across the State, with extended opening hours commencing at some libraries.
These changes mean that some libraries will be open on additional days.
There will be no reductions to any library's total opening hours and no changes to services.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the changes reflect community feedback and make it easier for more Tasmanians to access library services.
"Libraries are a vital part of communities across Tasmania and these changes will make our libraries more accessible," Minister Palmer said.
"The additional weekend opening hours in Hobart and Launceston libraries and longer hours in many regional and rural libraries, will help working families and the broader community to use the library at a time that is convenient for them.
"An important part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is about developing stronger communities and enhancing our regions."
Communities in Kinimathatakinta/George Town, Smithton and New Norfolk can now access their library on a Saturday, and Launceston Library and Hobart Library are open on Sundays.
