Thanks to the generosity of the WA community, 435 cancer patients and their carers attended our Life Now Mind and Body courses at no cost during the 2019-20 financial year.
Our Life Now Program offers introductory Exercise, Meditation, Mindfulness, Tai Chi and Yoga courses at no cost to West Australians affected by cancer.
The program is based on research that links regular exercise and stress-reduction programs to reduced treatment-related side effects and improved general wellbeing for people impacted by cancer.
For one of our Life Now Exercise participants, our Life Now program helped them improve their strength and mobility.
"It was just a light introduction and yet the feeling in my muscles tells me how much I need this.
"It felt so good to take this step in an environment where we are supported by understanding professionals.
"Somehow, the whole cancer journey makes you feel more vulnerable. That, coupled with the COVID-19 climate and it seems harder to do the very things that are so important for longevity and wellness."
"I just want to thank all the donors who make this possible and Cancer Council WA for providing this vital support.
Registrations for our Term 3 courses are now open, with courses available in Bentley, Broome, Bunbury, Clarkson, Mandurah and Shenton Park as well as online.
