Nationals MP for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has met two West Wyalong paramedics to thank them for saving her father Stephen's life.
Stephen suffered a serious heart attack in West Wyalong' s Ariah Park on January 9.
Paramedics Samantha and Lachlan responded to the 000 call from West Wyalong.
They stabilised Stephen then transported him to Wagga Wagga, where he underwent emergency surgery and spent nine days in intensive care.
"Needless to say, he was very sick, and it was a worrying time for our family and friends," Steph said.
"Without their care, he simply wouldn't have survived.
"This afternoon was particularly special as we dropped by the station for the first time since Dad left hospital, to say a huge 'thank you' on behalf of our family. We are forever grateful to you both, and blessed to have you based in our community," Steph said.
Interestingly, Lachlan isn't the only member of his family to serve the local community as an ambulance paramedic.
His twin brother Liam is a paramedic stationed at Cootamundra - an ambulance station delivered under The Nationals' Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration program.
Liam was formerly stationed at West Wyalong before applying to move to Cootamundra, while Lachlan was posted to West Wyalong shortly after Liam's departure.
We're reliably told they're both "incredibly lovely and intelligent."
