Hawkesbury City Council would like to thank the entertainers, stall holders, local businesses and of course the visitors, who came together to make Light Up Windsor a huge success on Wednesday night.
Visitors were treated to festive music and entertainment, shopping, Christmas lights and projections and fun activities throughout the evening.
With more than 50 stalls, and local shops and restaurants staying open late, it was also a great opportunity for last minute Christmas shopping and was a major boost for local businesses right on the eve of Christmas.
Council General Manager Elizabeth Richardson said it was the perfect way to celebrate the end of what has been a very challenging year for the Hawkesbury.
"It was wonderful that so many people came together to celebrate the festive season. After a year that has seen the floods in March and the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, local families deserved this opportunity to have fun," she said.
"Light Up Windsor is such an important way for our community to come together, to support local businesses and share Christmas joy with one another."
The celebrations don't end there. The light projections at the Deerubbin Centre and the Old Hawkesbury Hospital will operate from 8pm to 10pm on Thursday and Friday night. Visitors can also enjoy free face painting both nights, with a special visit from some festive entertainers on Friday night.
Council received $60,500 from the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant and $22,000 from Destination Sydney Surrounds North to create light projections on buildings in Windsor to contribute to the Light Up Windsor Festival.
This project received grant funding from the Australian Government. Austrade administers the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery grants program.
Light Up Windsor was presented in conjunction with the Windsor Business Group, with sponsorship from Windsor RSL.
