It's a special time of year to be in the City of Light and we welcome people from near and far to come and experience the wonder that is Christmas in the City.
City streets will be aglow this festive season for the annual Christmas Lights Trail, this year brought to Perth by Rio Tinto.
From 18 November until 2 January, the festival of light will be bigger and better with two illuminated trails to follow and 35 installations to explore across Central Perth and Northbridge.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail was the highlight of the festive season for many Western Australians.
"It's a special time of year to be in the City of Light and we welcome people from near and far to come and experience the wonder that is Christmas in the City. This year we're delighted to welcome our friends from Rio Tinto as a partner of the 2022 the Christmas Lights Trail," he said.
Rio Tinto Iron Ore Chief Executive Simon Trott, said "Rio Tinto is delighted to be partnering with the City of Perth for this year's Christmas Lights Trail to bring smiles to the faces of thousands of WA kids and families.
"We have been part of the Western Australian community for over 50 years and are proud to partner on events like the Christmas Lights Trail to support vibrant communities."
The City of Perth is proud to have Lotterywest as a Major Supporter of the event, bringing the crowd favourite Constellation Tunnel to Northbridge Piazza. Thanks also to partners WA Museum Boola Bardip, RAC Arena, Kings Square, Development WA, Raine Square, Piccadilly Arcade, 140 Perth, Perth Cultural Centre, Central Park, Hibernian Place, Forrest Chase, Enex and Brookfield Place.
With 29 new installations this year, visitors are encouraged to look out for the interactive Tree of Hope at Yagan Square, Sporty Santa in Murray Street Mall and Perth's renowned skyline will illuminate Barrack Square.
For the first time this year, City volunteers will run a free Christmas lights walking tour and it will also feature on the Perth Trails app, which offers informative walking trails suitable for people of all ages.
To make it easier to enjoy the trail, parking at CPP carparks was never easier with:
- Free parking at CPP at all carparks after 6pm
- Three-hour free parking on weekends and public holidays at CPP Cultural Centre, Pier Street and His Majesty's
