Planet Youth Lithgow Consortium hosted its highly anticipated Youth Summit 2024, on 26 March at Maldhan Ngurr Nurra Lithgow Transformation Hub.
During this event, the Lithgow Transformation Hub was alive as a space full of inspiration, learning, and community engagement among the young people of our community and their youth services.
An enthusiastic group of 90 participants were in attendance, including Mayor Statham and Councillors, and youth services representatives. The summit featured an inspiring group of young people from Lithgow High School and La Salle Academy. Local youth and youth services staff worked together, during the morning workshop to put forward their concerns, visions and present ideas on how to improve our community for younger people.
The hosts of this event were our Lithgow Young Changemakers: Brayden Aguilera, Lyric Burroughs and Lily Sheather. The Summit also featured an inspiring line-up of guest speakers with Trish Connelly CEO from YFoundation discussing "The importance of a youth homelessness strategy", while Kate Munro CEO from Youth Action spoke about Strengths Based Advocacy and Patrick O'Meara, Community Development Officer from Camden Council shared his experience with Julia Reserve Youth Community Centre.
