A total of 99 entries, from 6 local schools were received for the recent litter competition where students designed their own litter message around 'keeping litter out of our hood'.
The winners from each school have now been decided While some winners have already been notified and received their prizes, all winners will be presented their prizes before the end of term.
Rennae Vicary's class from Frederickton Public School entered the competition and she said her class has been having a lot of discussion around litter.
"We thought our school grounds looked litter free until we looked closely and found the tiniest bits of plastic in the grass and around the school. The students talked about how these micro-plastics can harm our environment particularly our animals and how important it is to put all our rubbish in the bin," Ms Vicary said.
"The students have noticed the litter signs around town and also understand that litter in our streets can be washed down drains and end up in our oceans causing harm to our marine life."
The winning designs from all schools together with original artwork by Stephen McLeod, will be part of a social media campaign to remind us all to keep litter out of our hood and in the bin to protect our environment.
