Liverpool Jumps 9 Spots in 2025 Guardian Uni Guide

The University of Liverpool has risen nine places in the 2025 Guardian University Guide, placing 27th overall in the UK and second overall in the North West.

The Guardian league tables rank institutions by subject, looking at student satisfaction, staff numbers, spending and career prospects.

Several Liverpool courses achieved a top five position in the subject tables with Veterinary Science placing 2nd in the UK, Pharmacology 5th, Construction, Surveying and Planning 2nd, Anatomy 3rd and Architecture 3rd.

The University's Classics, Dentistry, Economics, Civil Engineering, Marketing and PR courses also placed within the top ten at subject level.

The University also performed well in the Daily Mail University Guide for 2025, retaining its 25th position in the ranking of 129 UK Universities. The Daily Mail Guide ranks Universities on subjects, quality of student life and graduates' earning potential.

Professor Tim Jones, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Liverpool said: "The latest league table results are very encouraging. They illustrate the confidence of our University community in harnessing our unique strengths and characteristics as we work towards securing a position among the top-100 universities globally in time for our 150th anniversary in 2031. Our position also reflects the hard work and commitment of colleagues right across the University, of whom I am very proud."
