The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has today announced that Liz Peace CBE has been appointed as Chair of Nuclear Waste Services, an NDA subsidiary.
Liz will succeed current Chair, Adrienne Kelbie CBE, who is moving overseas where she will continue with her leadership and board advisory work.
Liz has more than 35 years' experience in government and the property sector, including as Chief Executive of the British Property Federation for 13 years, and currently holds a range of Chair, non-executive and advisory roles. She was awarded a CBE in 2008 for services to the property industry.

I also want to thank Adrienne. As NWS' first Chair, she played a leading role in establishing the organisation and its strategy, including developing strong governance, and harnessing the best of the UK's expertise in radioactive waste management.

It's a privilege to take on the role of Nuclear Waste Services Chair. I began my career in the civil service working on projects relating to nuclear safety, so it feels like I've come full circle, with the benefit of many years of experience to bring to bear on driving forward the NDA group's mission.
I look forward to supporting the NDA and NWS Boards and Executive teams to ensure we are managing nuclear waste safely and sustainably, to leave positive legacy for the environment and future generations.
Liz has a portfolio career holding a range of non-executive, advisory and charity roles, at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, AEW UK REIT plc, Greencore Homes, Connected Places Catapult, and the Howard de Walden Estate Ltd.
She currently chairs the Mayor of London's Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, the University of Cambridge Property board and the Churches Conservation Trust. She is a proud founding member of Real Estate Balance, an organisation working to achieve gender balance in the property industry.
She spent her early career in the Ministry of Defence, working on a range of projects from nuclear safety to defence finance, becoming a key player in the team that created QinetiQ plc.
Liz was appointed following a fair, open and transparent selection process. Her term begins formally on 1 September 2024.
