A man is in custody – and a loaded handgun and drugs have been seized – after the pursuit of a stolen car at Georges Hall this morning.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle for a random breath test on the Hume Highway, Villawood, when the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed.
When the vehicle allegedly drove away, a pursuit was initiated by officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command.
It continued to Henry Lawson Drive, Georges Hall, where the sedan hit a parked car and the driver was arrested.
Police will allege when searched, a loaded handgun and drugs were found inside the sedan. They've been seized for further examination.
The driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.
The man has now been released into police custody and is being taken to Bankstown Police Station.
