This Australia Day, we proudly announce Heather White as the local ambassador.
Heathers' remarkable journey began at the tender age of 17 when she selflessly volunteered as a lifeguard.
Her dedication and passion for her community led her to manage the Barellan Pool Complex for over five decades. Throughout her tenure, Heather played a pivotal role in spearheading and maintaining various upgrades to the facility, while imparting the invaluable skill of swimming to countless children, instilling confidence, and safety in future generations.
Her influence extends beyond the pool's edge, in 2018 Heather had the distinct honour of carrying the Queen's baton for the Commonwealth Games, a testament to her exceptional contributions and sanding in the community. Additionally, she was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000, further solidifying her legacy as a pillar of strength and inspiration to all.
Heather's mark in the community is a testament to her unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions, making her a shining example of the remarkable individuals who enrich our shire.
