Local Author Book Talk: Bayside

Cornelia Ramsay, a Bayside resident, chose the Rockdale Library to launch her first book Tales of No Pretence, on Thursday 18 July.

Cornelia discussed her early life growing up in Romania migrating to Australia, learning and working in a male-dominated industry, and raising family.

Later she transitioned to training, teaching and managing in the education sector where she ultimately now volunteers for Better Connected Community Services at Rockdale to help the less advantaged.

During the launch she shared excerpts from her collection of short stories based on real life events that cover topics such as friendship, resilience, and migrant stories.

She also explained her process for writing the book, and the steps to getting it published.

Library staff helped convert a normally quiet area of the library into a vibrant event space full of storytelling and warm conversation.

Mayor Bill Saravinovski said:

"This was a wonderful opportunity to hear from a local author and I am pleased our library could be adapted to provide a suitable venue for this community event," Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.
