Local businesses were provided with valuable insights into Cairns Regional Council's upcoming projects during a sold-out session at the Cairns Infrastructure and Assets annual Industry Briefing last Friday.

With over 140 business representatives in attendance, the annual briefing offered a detailed overview of Council's capital works program for 2024-25. This event has become an essential forum for local businesses looking to collaborate with Council, allowing them to better prepare for future tenders or bids.

Mayor Amy Eden emphasised the importance of equipping businesses with the necessary tools and support to navigate the local government tender process.

"As a Small Business Friendly Council, we are proud of our dedication to supporting small businesses and prioritising local spending," Cr Eden said.

"Council significantly contributes to the Cairns economy by creating local jobs and investing in local goods and services. In the 2023/24 fiscal year, for instance, we spent $384 million, with 88% reinvested into local businesses. Our goal is to partner with the local industry to ensure businesses in Cairns thrive."

Attendees gained crucial insights into the upcoming Council works and projects, which cover a broad spectrum of services from consultancies to construction.

For those who couldn't attend, the Council will share key highlights and resources from the briefing to ensure all interested parties can access the valuable information presented.
