Storm season has kicked off with a roaring start with more than 275.4mm of rain falling during October and November so far and more rain and storms forecast for the next month.
Despite the challenging weather, the dedication of Hines Construction and our local contractors has ensured that the outdoor pool and surrounding areas at the new Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre remain on track to be ready for Christmas, with the indoor pool and splash pad expected to open in the new year.
Clarence Valley Council's General Manager, Laura Black, expressed her appreciation for the contractors working tirelessly, often six days a week, to deliver this project for the community.
"The work that has been put in over the last year has been nothing short of incredible so it's important to recognise not only Hines Construction but our local contractors as well.
"So far, 128.3 tonnes of structural steel, 270.34 tonnes of reinforcement, and 1,963.9m³ of concrete have gone into bringing this vision to life.
"These local contractors include Ben McLennan Construction, Big River Glass, Gray's Bricklaying, Nat Sewell Concreting, Parry's Earthmoving, Rick Winters Construction, Todd Lewis Plastering, Wicks & Parker, and Zeal Joinery with each of them having a pivotal role in creating an exceptional facility for our community."
When complete, the Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre will feature a new 50m competition pool, an indoor program and leisure pool open year-round, and a splash pad.
Clarence Valley Council is also looking for an experienced Manager for the exciting opportunity to run the new Regional Aquatic Centre over a three-year term contract under the Local Government (State) Award.
As well as the Manager's position, interested community members can apply for Customer Service Officer, Duty Supervisor, Lifeguard and Operations Supervisor positions currently advertised.
