In November the Victorian Government released its report into local government funding and services.
This report was developed following an inquiry on the topic, and urges the State Government to act on rates, grants and cost shifting to help support the financial sustainability of Victoria's 79 councils.
The report includes 48 recommendations, many of which respond to a submission made by Regional Cities Victoria (RCV), of which Wodonga Council is a member.
Wodonga Council's Chief Executive Officer Matthew Hyde welcomed the recommendations, having given evidence to the parliamentary inquiry in September.
"When I attended the inquiry, I spoke of the impact of cost shifting, financial disparities between regions and a lack of substantial state contribution to major precincts such as Baranduda Fields," said Mr Hyde.
"This is not an issue isolated to Wodonga - Councils across the state are under increased financial pressure and receive little additional funds, instead being forced to take on more responsibilities for state government services.
"I welcome the inquiry's findings and look forward to working with the other RCV members and the State Government to help build an equitable and sustainable future for the state's regional cities."
