Maria Galinato from Virginia first began seeking help with her computer skills when her confidence was shattered in an online scam a few years back.
"I was quite scared to go online and found coming to the one-on-one tech help sessions at the Library really helped me gain independence when going on my computer".
Up until this point Ms Galinato relied on her children to show her how to trouble-shoot any issues on her computer or phone. Unfortunately, a lot of the time they would do it so quickly she was unable to learn the basics.
"I was quite scared to go online and found coming to the one-on-one tech help sessions at the Library really helped me gain independence when going on my computer".
"When I book into a session, I would let Sarah [Tech Help staff member] know I wanted to learn how to do this or that on the computer or phone and she would be so patient and show me how to do it". Ms Galinato recalls.
Sarah Nelson, Digital Literacy and Programs Officer, runs sessions at both Playford Library locations and has said that understanding and using technology is more important than ever in everyday life.
"Technology is becoming a vital part of functioning in the community, and it can be isolating and frustrating if you do not understand it. One on One [Tech Help sessions] are about bridging the gap and building confidence in using technology, on their terms".
