Trade continues to be more important than ever, especially in the current circumstances. Reducing the likelihood of user error for lifting port holds helps keep cargo moving.
Following feedback from industry, border agencies are simplifying the use of the Location of Goods field in Trade Single Window by making it mandatory for sea freight. It is already mandatory for air freight. Making the Location of Goods field mandatory reduces the likelihood of user error - whatever you put in this field is where the clearance or direction notification goes. You can still add extra delivery notifications as needed.
What you will notice
If you submit your lodgements B2B without the Location of Goods completed, from 2 June it will be rejected. You will get an error returned saying 'Location of Goods not specified or invalid'. If you use TSW Online, you won't be able to submit this lodgement until this field is completed.
You may not need to do anything or notice any changes; check in with your software provider if you're not sure. In most cases, the Location of Goods will be the same as the Port of Discharge. It's important you use the right code to make sure the port holds are lifted. For sea freight, this is usually the UNLOCODE or the Port Authority Client Code. CCA codes should only be used when you are trying to send notifications to a specific wharf for certain types of cargo. The Using the Correct Port Codes table helps to clarify this is you're not sure.
