The Council is making every effort possible to ensure essential services are delivered without interruption despite the restrictions.
Following the announcement of a one-week lockdown from 5pm yesterday, 14th August, 2021 Gwydir Shire Council will be taking the following action. All non-essential Council facilities and services will be temporarily closed. All staff who work in these areas will work from home if possible, to comply with the Public Health Order (PHO). Those who can not work from home will attend to their normal place of work.
The following will be closed:
* Face to Face customer service in Warialda and Bingara
* Tourism Information Centres
* Service NSW Agencies
* Gwydir Fitness Centres
* Public Toilets with the exception of Maitland Street Public Toilets in Bingara, Apex Park Toilets in Warialda, Moffett Park Toilets in Gravesend and Railway Park Toilets in North Star. These toilets will undergo extreme cleaning twice a day.
* Commonwealth Home Support Program (HACC)
* Libraries (including Toy Libraries)
* Council managed public spaces (incl Roxy, Town Hall, Public Halls)
* All sporting events planned for council recreation spaces
* Caravan Parks
* Cranky Rock
* Myall Creek
The following services will be available:
* Self service Centrelink (normal opening times)
* Bingara Preschool and Tharawonga Mobile Resource Unit (for Children of essential workers only)
* Road construction and maintenance
* Water and sewerage services
* Parks and Gardens
* Warialda and Bingara Landfills are now open for essential use only. This includes the disposal of waste for health and safety reasons only and commercial waste. Kerbside collection will remain as normal.
* Parks and recreation spaces will remain open for exercise for groups of no more than 2 (excluding people from same household).
Naroo Hostel remains in lockdown until further notice. No visitors are permitted with the exception of those for residents at end of life or in palliative care.

Payments will need to be made over the phone or electronically.
