Following several months of consultation and community engagement, the Lockington & District Place Based Plan committee has approved the draft Lockington & District Place Based Plan for the community to review.

Over the next six weeks, the Lockington & District community members will have the opportunity to read and discuss the contents of the plan and provide feedback before being tabled to Council.

Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the plan is a combination of aspirations and future ambitions sourced from the responses to the in-person and online consultation sessions that began in July 2024.

"We are excited for the Lockington & District community to see the ideas they put forward in the draft plan. Approximately 790 people provided feedback in the development of this draft plan to improve their town in terms of tourism, events and business, health, wellbeing and culture, infrastructure, natural environments and community participation.

"The plan focuses on four main areas, including short projects, medium projects, longer-term and ongoing priorities. I encourage you all to read through the plan and provide your feedback," Mayor Mackrell said.

Place Based Plans focus on making places better. The process involves looking at, listening to and engaging with community members who live, work and play in a particular place to understand their needs and aspirations.

The Lockington & District Place Based Plan Committee is made up of eight members including Colin Bacon, Bridie Boyle, Monica Brereton, Joseph Halloway (co-chair), Janelle Mancer, Wendy Sims (co-chair), Dan Walker and Graeme Wood.

Mayor Mackrell expressed thanks to the committee for giving up their time to develop this plan and advocating for the community for the upcoming plan.

"This truly reflects the community spirit in Lockington & District and the residents' affection for their region. The plan showcases projects and ideas that improve Lockington & District, making it a better place for the entire community."
