With wet and wild weather, winter can be a difficult time for our foreshores, footpaths and drainage systems.
Recent rough winds have caused a significant amount of sand and debris to fall across our foreshore paths and promenades.
This large volume of materials will take us a couple of weeks to remove and will be done systematically by our foreshore cleaning team.
Reporting directly to us is the quickest way to get your problem resolved. To make things easier, you can add our report a problem page to your mobile home screen, just like an app.
Maintaining our magnificent streets
We are committed to keeping our streets and promenades clean and accessible. Street sweepers collect leaves across Bayside from March to July, with streets selected based on size, species and numbers of trees.
Cleaning up leaves isn't easy and there are a few things you can do to help keep our streets clear:
- Avoid parking on the street on your sweeping days
- If you can't move your vehicle, sweep leaves from under parked vehicles the night before and remove sticks, branches and rocks.
- Don't rake or blow leaves onto the road after the sweeper has passed
Our drainage team proactively cleans and removes debris from stormwater drains to prevent blockages and minimise the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall, while also carrying out regular inspections and maintenance to identify potential issues.
We have allocated $2.7 million in drainage in this year's Budget, which focuses on designing flood mapping, with a significant spend on upgrades planned over the next four years to mitigate flooding risks.
