Los Alamos National Laboratory named a top employer by Latina Style

LOS ALAMOS, N.M., Oct. 20, 2020—Los Alamos National Laboratory was selected as one of the 2020 Top 50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work in the U.S. by LATINA Style Inc. The Lab ranked 33 out of 50, based on 2019 data.

"Latinas represent 45 percent of all the women in our 13,000-employee workforce," said Director Thom Mason. "We expect to hire 1,200 new employees in FY21, and are striving for more Latina representation as we seek to grow a diverse workforce across all areas, particularly management, science, and engineering."

With more than 600,000 readers, LATINA Style magazine addresses the needs of Latina professionals and business owners in the United States. Its annual report identifies corporations that provide the best career opportunities for Latinas in the country. Among the principal areas of evaluation are the number of Latina executives, Latina retention, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, employee benefits, active affinity groups and Hispanic community relations.

Companies that responded to LATINA Style's questionnaire — including the Lab — were evaluated based on matters that LATINA Style magazine readers deemed as important to them in the workplace, such as Latina training, mentorship, retention and promotion.

"Over the years, the survey has evolved to ensure more opportunities for Latinas are taken into consideration," said LATINA Style Inc. CEO, Robert Bard. "With the mission to recognize the work corporate America is doing to advance and empower Latinas, the survey not only reflects the opportunities provided to Latinas, but it is a reflection of the company's culture and overall focus on diversity and inclusion."

The Laboratory hired 1,200 people in FY 2020, and expects to hire at the same rate for the next three-to-four years. To apply for jobs, visit the Careers webpage.
