As Warrnambool prepares to host its biggest ever music event, triple j's One Night Stand on September 14, locals and visitors are encouraged to embrace the atmosphere with lots happening before and after the festival.
In total, 10 events come under the "More than a One Night Stand" banner, starting with the Live and Local Industry Forum at the Lighthouse Theatre on Thursday September 12 and concluding with the Songwriters Holiday Program from September 24-26 featuring Alice Ivy, Woodes and Jackson Phelan (Rat!Hammock).
Made possible by Music Australia, More Than a One Night Stand brings together music service organisations from across the country including Association of Artist Managers, AIR, APRA AMCOS, CrewCare, Kennell & Co., Live Music Office, Music Australia, Music Victoria, The Push, and VMDO.
"There are industry panels, a live podcast recording, programs for young songwriters, plus across the weekend there will be buskers throughout the city centre," Warrnambool Mayor Ben Blain said.
"So if you were lucky enough to secure a ticket to One Night Stand, or even if you missed out, there's lots to get involved in, whether you are a musician, you work in the music industry, or you are just a big fan of live music.
"While One Night Stand is obviously massive, this program of events is about giving locals access to some of the best professionals in the business, including musicians and other industry experts."
Cr Blain said that he was eagerly awaiting One Night Stand on Saturday.
"This weekend, the eyes and ears of Australian music lovers will be on Warrnambool, and we can't wait!
"Warrnambool is a city with a long and proud history of live music, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next chapter written at One Night Stand.
"With 15,000 people expected to attend, we'd recommend that people park and walk, or make use of the free shuttle bus for ticket-holders. You can see all of the bus stop locations on the Triple J website on the One Night Stand FAQs page.
"Riding a bike is another good option, with free bike parking facilities that will be monitored by event security.
"There will be limited parking at the Warrnambool Showgrounds for $5. Parking is free for accessible parking permit holders."
From 12pm on Saturday, Hyland St between Koroit St and Lava St will be closed to southbound traffic and become one way only.
Additionally, the following roads will be open for local traffic only from 12pm on Saturday:
· Kruger St between Murray St and Hyland St
· Lava St between Murray St and Hyland St
· Hyland St between Atkins Rd and Lava St
Local traffic travelling south down Hyland Street will be diverted east into Lava Street from midday.
