Families with young children are invited to join the City of Greater Bendigo and local community organisations to celebrate National Playgroup Week at the annual Play in the Garden event at the Garden for the Future, Bendigo Botanic Gardens White Hill from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday March 18, 2025.
Play in the Garden is a free community event, in a wonderful setting featuring children's activities including music and entertainment, an animal farm and pony rides, bubble play, face painting, library activities, sports and games, sensory play and arts and crafts.
There will be free fresh fruit and water will be available from the Coliban Water portable water station. Sausages and veggie burgers will be available to purchase for low cost.
City of Greater Bendigo Community Partnerships Manager Andie West said Play in the Garden is a great event for local families.
"We once again look forward to seeing lots of families enjoying the fun and activities so bring a drink bottle and hat and come along to discover what Greater Bendigo playgroups and the City's early year's services can offer local children and families," Ms West said.
National Playgroup Week celebrates the importance of playgroups and other important early years services in the community. This year there is a focus on educating parents to provide fun and free activities in the home to help with the current financial crisis.
Playgroups are an important community resource. They provide young children with a fun, stimulating play environment where they can enhance their language, problem-solving and social skills in preparation for preschool and primary school.
They are also an important social activity for parents and carers because they provide opportunities to meet new people and share their experiences and ideas on raising children.
Play in the Garden is proudly presented by the City of Greater Bendigo.
