A rock concert, a virtual reality Minecraft workshop, street sports contests and a mixing desk class are just a few of the events set to make this year's Youth Week the most interesting and diverse yet.
Activities, which also include a poetry competition and free access to Council fitness facilities for the week, kick off from Wednesday 10 April and run until Thursday 18 April, for 12-25-year-olds.
"There's plenty to do in Campbelltown during Youth Week, with a full program of activities that will appeal to a wide range of age groups and interests," said Mayor George Brticevic.
"Whether you're into sport, art, music, gaming or food, it's got that right mix of creativity and health and fitness for young people," said Cr Brticevic.
"An emphasis on good mental health is also a message we have put high on the agenda," he said.
At Skate 'n' Slam, professional skaters Aimee Massie and Noah Fuzzi will show off their skills at a skateboarding competition hosted by Totem Skateboarding from 12pm-3pm on Saturday, 13 April, at Macquarie Fields Skate Park.
While next to it on the basketball courts, Youth off the Streets hosts a 3X3 basketball tournament with prizes to be won on. Guzman Y Gomez Macarthur Square will be serving up burritos for all young people there on the day.
Included in the numerous classes and workshops young people can sign up for, is one to learn how to mix and record music in your own home on a budget, with the guidance of an industry professional from 4pm-6pm on Monday, 15 April, at Campbelltown Arts Centre.
Learn the art of taking a brilliant photograph on your phone, with lessons from a professional photography tutor teaching focus, framing, understanding light, exposure and composition, on Wednesday, 17 April, at the Campbelltown Arts Centre.
Sunset Sounds - Rock Edition will showcase four young up-and-coming bands and will be headlined by local prog rockers Gravity Stone at the Campbelltown Arts Centre on Friday, 12 April, from 6pm-9pm. Tickets are $5 an can be purchased online. Everyone with a ticket gets a burrito on the night!
Macarthur Diversity Services initiative will host a Talent Showcase from 11am-2pm on Wednesday, 17 April, at Airds Bradbury Central.
Meanwhile, young writers can score a $100 Macarthur Square shopping voucher and have their poem published in the Macarthur Chronicle if they win the Youth Week Poetry Prize.
