- $900,000 Lotterywest grant helps Spacecubed to support local innovators
- Grants used to build a culture of innovation and capability in WA
- The latest grant is in addition to $5.9 million previously provided by Lotterywest to Spacecubed
Lotterywest is continuing to support the future of Western Australia's innovation landscape with a $900,000 grant to Spacecubed for their ongoing work in growing the sector through their Innovative Society Initiative.
Innovation and Digital Economy Minister Stephen Dawson Minister welcomed this latest round of funding support from Lotterywest saying it provides support to enable local innovators to adapt and scale their businesses to commercialisation.
This $900,000 grant follows a previous $5.9 million allocation from Lotterywest to Spacecubed to establish the Innovative Society Initiative over three years and create a sustainable, smart and innovative society in WA.
Over the past two years Spacecubed has used the Lotterywest funding to award 48 grants, worth a total of $1.43 million, to assist local innovation initiatives including funding for the Great Southern Hackathon, First Nations Innovation Hub scoping study and the Female Founder Festival.
The Innovative Society Initiative is made up of three developed grants programs:
- Catalyst Inspire supports activities or initiatives that attract new to ecosystem participants, growing the overall participation in innovation and entrepreneurship;
- Catalyst Create supports new collaborative programs or initiatives that build innovation and entrepreneurship capacity and capability; and
- Lotterywest Idea-Starter assists innovators to test and validate early-stage ideas.
The Lotterywest Idea-Starter grant program supports not-for-profit organisations build capacity of entrepreneurs and focuses on developing the mindsets and tools for innovation.
As stated by Innovation and the Digital Economy Minister Stephen Dawson:
