- Lotterywest returns record $373 million in grants to WA communities in 2023-24
- Direct grants totalling $125 million supported 375 WA not-for-profits and local governments
- Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country, with all available profits returned to the community
Lotterywest has delivered record-breaking returns to the community in 2023-24, directly supporting hundreds of Western Australian organisations during the financial year.
As a result of lottery sales last financial year, $373 million went to supporting the Western Australian community through grants.
There were 375 Western Australian not-for-profit groups and local governments that benefited from 411 direct Lotterywest grants, totalling $125 million. These grants were delivered alongside more than $248 million in statutory allocations through the Department of Health and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
Lotterywest grants provide funding for a range of causes, be it a bus for the Looma community, a water spray park as part of the Fitzroy Crossing Youth Precinct, or millions of dollars to support the work of emergency relief providers.
Western Australian players took home $635.9 million in prizes in 2023-24, including 116 Division One and Scratch'n'Win Top Prize wins.
The biggest individual prize for a Western Australian player was thanks to an OZ Lotto prize of $20 million, courtesy of a ticket purchased from Hocking News in July 2023.
As the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country, all available Lotterywest profits from Lotterywest tickets are used to support projects and initiatives that benefit the Western Australian community.
Comments attributed to Premier Roger Cook:
"Western Australia is unique, with the only State-owned and operated lottery in the country channelling all available profits back into the WA community.
"Lotterywest's support can be seen right across the State, from an all-abilities playground in Wyndham to the Community Summer Event Series bringing families together in Albany.
"This support for the WA community is mostly raised through the work of more than 480 small business owners who make up Lotterywest's retail network, who have all contributed to this great result for our state."
