Lucy Roffey has resigned from her position as Central Goldfields Shire CEO after six years of dedicated service.
Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Liesbeth Long said while she was saddened to receive the CEO's resignation, her expertise and leadership meant the organisation was well placed for the future.
"When Lucy first joined Central Goldfields Shire in March 2018, she worked directly with the newly appointed Administrators and was tasked with leading the organisation through a period of significant transformation.
"Her experience in local government and her financial background provided the organisation with stable and visionary leadership that was needed during an intricate period of transition.
"This wasn't the only challenge Lucy was faced with during her time with us. She also capably navigated the organisation through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 flood event and, most recently, in response to the current economic challenges, she developed our first Financial Sustainability Strategy, which was adopted at last week's Council meeting. This will help ensure our financial health remains strong well into the future.
"Across 2020 and 2021 Lucy led the induction of our current Council and the development of the Council Plan and Community Vision. She has also provided strategic leadership to Energy Breakthrough and has overseen community partnership projects such as the Climate Action Stewarding Group, Volunteer Stewarding Group and most recently the Carisbrook Levee Community Reference Group."
"Lucy has transformed our advocacy efforts which has resulted in significant success in securing funding for key projects such as the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve, Maryborough Railway Station, Carisbrook Levee, Central Goldfields Art Gallery, Maryborough Skate and Scooter Park, Dunolly's new netball courts, as well as a huge amount of critical strategic planning projects. She has also played an essential role in ongoing advocacy for the funding needed to ensure the critical work of Go Goldfields can continue."
"On a personal note, it has been a privilege and a pleasure as Mayor working alongside Lucy. She has displayed a solid work ethic, been professional, diligent and 100% committed to our Shire. For this I am most grateful."
"On behalf of my fellow councillors and Central Goldfields Shire staff and volunteers we extend our sincere thanks to Lucy for her leadership, expertise and diligence. We wish her well and every success for her next chapter."
Central Goldfields Shire CEO Lucy Roffey said it had given her great professional pride and fulfillment to work with the Central Goldfields Shire Councillors, staff and community.
"Together we have made significant progress on several strategic priorities and delivered many key projects across the Shire.
"Personally, I have enjoyed working and getting to know so many amazing passionate people who are dedicated to making Central Goldfields Shire a great place to live, work and visit, and in particular all the staff at Council who are committed and take great pride in their work and serving the local community."
"However, after 6 years as CEO at CGSC the time has come for me to seek other opportunities and challenges in my career, and I have accepted an executive position with a metro-based Council"
Lucy's last day at Central Goldfields Shire will be 21 August 2024 with an interim CEO to be appointed until after the Council Election in October. The newly elected Council will be responsible for appointing a new CEO.
