Bayside Council will usher in the Lunar New Year with several events including a family-friendly, celebration at Wolli Creek, Chinese and Korean music at St Magdelen's Chapel, and a series of cultural craft workshops.
The highlight of Council's Lunar New Year program will be a celebration of Year of the Snake at Cahill Park, Wolli Creek from 5 - 10pm on Friday 31 January. Run in partnership with Aussie Night Markets the event will include lion dancing, music, food trucks, market stalls and rides.
The popular Chapel Nights return for Lunar New Year featuring Chinese and Korean classical music at the historic St Magdelen's Chapel in Wolli Creek on Friday 31 January and Saturday 1 February 2025 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.
Local performer Shurui Liang leads a classical Chinese arrangement that will include pipa players, violins and the guzheng on Friday 31 January.
The Pure Traditional Korean Music Ensemble presents a selection of traditional and contemporary arrangements featuring the Daegeum (Korean bamboo flute), Gayageum (Korean zither) and the Haegeum (Korean fiddle) on Saturday 1 February.
St Magdelen's Chapel, 8 Brodie Spark Drive, Wolli Creek, is just a short walk from Wolli Creek Station.
Council will also run several cultural craft workshops in Council libraries and the Arncliffe Youth Centre.
