The Minns Government is continuing to support regional tourism with New England's Lake Keepit soon to sparkle as an international star-gazing tourist destination thanks to an almost $2 million grant from the NSW Government.
Work began last week at Reflections Lake Keepit on the "Big Sky Dreaming" glamping precinct, a $4 million project recently approved by Gunnedah Council.
Lining the shores of Lake Keepit, the glamping precinct will have eight large star-gazing tents, each with their own bathroom, kitchenette and deck, featuring an outdoor bath to soak up the night sky and views over the lake.
An existing chalet will be refurbished as a Star Lounge for the enjoyment of guests and host tourism events including dining and experiences under the stars, including Aboriginal storytelling and cultural activities.
Reflections, a Crown Land manager and the largest holiday group in New South Wales, was able to plan the significant regional tourism project after receiving a $1,998,922 grant from the NSW Government and support from Crown Lands through a $28 million loan from the Crown Reserve Improvement Fund.
Regional NSW was Australia's favourite regional holiday destination in the year ending March 2024, attracting 66 million domestic visitors.
The NSW Government is ensuring regional NSW remains front of mind for all types of visitors - whether they're here for leisure, business, study or family through the work of NSW First industry program, Business Events NSW and the Regional Event Fund.
Minister for Agriculture and Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty said:
"The Lake Keepit Holiday Park has long been a favourite destination for families, school camps and tourists, and will now offer a unique experience with luxury accommodation star gazing tents that will bring more people to the park to star gaze in style."

"Reflections' access to Government loan funding has been pivotal in being able to develop this major tourism experience for regional NSW.
"Reflections operates 40 holiday parks and cares for 45 community reserves on Crown land across our state and this project will support businesses in Gunnedah and Tamworth."
