The Illawarra Highway is closed in both directions on Macquarie Pass after a car crash near one of the hairpin bends.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and can use Picton Road as an alternative route.
Emergency services are at the crash site and traffic crews are also responding.
Meanwhile, motorists travelling south of the Hume Motorway are experiencing significant delays due to a car crash approaching Picton Road at Wilton.
One southbound lane of the Hume Motorway is closed, with traffic using the other southbound lane and the shoulder of the road to pass the crash site.
Southbound traffic is queued around 14 kilometres from Menangle Park.
