Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce the completion of another important initiative in its commitment to improving local infrastructure
A major drainage project in Queen Street, Ararat has now been completed, following several months of upgrade works. Commencing in July this year, the works included the laying of large pipework at the Blake Street intersection, followed by kerb and pavement upgrades at the MacLean Street intersection.
These works will improve the transportation of water upstream, as well as alleviate increased pressure on the water network downstream.
This completion of this project was supported by Council's Capital Works Program, under the comprehensive Urban Drainage initiative. This initiative targets improvements to the municipality's extensive drainage network.
It also aims to improve the capacity of our urban drainage system to manage higher rainfall events, as well as implement improvements to areas with long-term drainage issues.
Ararat Rural City Council, Dr Tim Harrison emphasised the importance of a reliable urban drainage system, stating "a well-functioning drainage system is crucial for preserving the quality of our roads and ensuring community safety.
"Our commitment to improving road reliability is evident through our ongoing maintenance and investment in Council's Capital Works Program," he said.
