Major Methylamphetamine Bust in Cobram Drug Operation

Police have arrested four people and seized over $50,000 of methylamphetamine and a firearm as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in Bundalong and Yarrawonga.

Detectives from the Cobram Crime Investigation Unit (CIU), and uniform members from Yarrawonga, Tungamah, and Cobram executed four search warrants at properties in Bundalong and Yarrawonga this month.

• On 7 August, detectives with the assistance from Dog Squad executed a warrant at a Bundalong address. Detectives located and seized a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and a substantial amount of cash. A 38-year-old man and 36-year-old woman both from Bundalong were charged with traffick commercial quantity of drug of dependence, possess drug of dependence, deal with proceeds of crime, and handle stolen goods. The woman was bailed while the man was remanded. Both will appear at Wangaratta Magistrates Court on 7 November.

• On 13 August, detectives executed a search warrant at a Yarrawonga address where a small quantity of drugs and a phone was seized. A 21-year-old Yarrawonga man was charged with traffick drug of dependence and possess drug of dependence. He was bailed to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates Court on 7 November.

• On the same day, detectives executed a search warrant at another Yarrawonga address where they seized a shotgun and a large quantity of vapes. A 24-year-old Yarrawonga man was charged with prohibited person possession of firearm and possess schedule four poison.

• On 21 August, detectives executed a search warrant at a Yarrawonga address where a quantity of cannabis was seized. A 56-year-old Yarrawonga woman was issued with a caution.
