- Fifty studio, one and two-bedroom apartments in a high-demand inner city location
- Site works and construction expected to commence mid-2025
- Delivered as part of the State Government's record $4.5 billion into housing and homelessness measures
The Cook Labor Government is set to deliver a nearly $30 million boost to social and affordable housing in Perth's inner north, securing 50 off-the-plan apartments on Beaufort Street in Inglewood.
The one and two-bedroom and studio apartments, which are earmarked for seniors, have been designed by Klopper & Davis Architects and the build will be managed by Spinnaker Developments.
The 50-apartment complex has been procured through the Cook Labor Government's 'Call for Submissions for Social Housing' initiative. This initiative invites private industry to help deliver liveable and sustainable apartment and grouped dwelling residential developments for social housing in Perth and regional Western Australia.
The Beaufort Street location provides a critical housing boost close to public transport, shopping, cafes and other amenities.
Site works and construction of the apartments is expected to commence in mid-2025.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"My Government is leaving no stone unturned to bolster housing supply through our record $4.5 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures.
"Reducing pressure in the housing market has been our major focus in recent years and to see another 50 new affordable homes being delivered in Inglewood will provide a critical boost to housing supply.
"The latest figures show WA is leading the nation when it comes to increasing housing supply and this comes off the back of housing completions reaching their highest number in nearly seven years.
"We've built more social homes, cut red tape, freed up land, grown our construction workforce, reduced stamp duty, and incentivised owners of short stay accommodation and vacant homes to put their properties on the rental market."
As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:
"The Cook Labor Government is getting on with delivering our record $4.5 billion investments in housing and homelessness measures.
"Through our Call for Submissions initiative, we've secured another 50 new social homes that will provide safe and secure housing to the most vulnerable members of our community - in a strategically located site, in Inglewood, close to shops, transports hubs and local amenities.
"Since our record $4.5 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures, we've added more than 2,700 social homes across the State, with more than 1,000 currently under contract or construction.
"Our 'Call for Submissions for Social Housing' initiative sees us partnering with the private sector to bolster the delivery of social housing in Western Australia."
