Major stimulus resurfacing works sweeping across metropolitan Adelaide

Motorists across metropolitan Adelaide are enjoying far smoother and safer journeys thanks to a job-supporting road resurfacing blitz currently being undertaken on key city roads.

More than 14 lane-kilometres of asphalt has been resurfaced across the city, from sections of Fullarton Road in the eastern suburbs to Henley Beach Road in the west.

As well as improving safety, the works are supporting 135 full-time jobs per annum, with dozens of active worksites across Adelaide.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Corey Wingard, said the Marshall Liberal Government's $58 million Road Maintenance Stimulus committed in the 2020-21 State Budget is rolling out nicely.

"We're continuing to chip away at the $750 million backlog of road maintenance left behind by the former Labor government," Minister Wingard said.

"As promised in the State Budget last year, we're delivering safer and smoother roads, while also supporting much-needed jobs for the construction industry.

"Our record $16.7 billion commitment to improve infrastructure is delivering more road upgrades across the state than ever before.

"There will be some short-term inconvenience for motorists in metropolitan areas as they navigate through roadworks, but in the long term these high priority roads will be much safer, getting people out of traffic and home to their families much quicker.

"We thank motorists for their patience while these important works are being undertaken."
