Man Arrested After Caulfield Racecourse Fire

Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit have arrested a man following a fire at Caulfield Racecourse this morning.

The 51-year-old man was arrested at Mordialloc railway station about 1.45pm after reports of several grass fires in the area.

Investigators are investigating links between the three grass fires, in the vicinity of Attenborough Park and reserve in Mordialloc about 12.30pm, and the grandstand fire this morning.

Emergency services were called to the racecourse grandstand fire at the Station Street venue, on Tuesday 7 January about 6.25am.

Non one was injured.

The fires are all believed to be suspicious.

The man whose last known address was in Wangaratta will now be interviewed by detectives.
