Man Arrested After Escaping Police Custody in Fairfield

A man has been charged after allegedly escaping police custody in Sydney's south west.

About 5pm on Thursday 22 August 2024, a man attended Fairfield Police Station as per his bail conditions.

The 34-year-old man was arrested by police for allegedly breaching his bail conditions.

Police will allege in court; the man ran from the police station.

About 12.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 August 2024), officers attached to State Crime Command Raptor Squad attended a home on Todd Street, Merrylands West, to conduct a Firearms Prohibition Order compliance check.

Police forced entry into the premises and located a man.

The 34-year-old was arrested following the execution of a warrant and taken to Granville Police Station.

During a search of the premises, police located and seized more than $43,000 of counterfeit currency.

The 34-year-old man was charged with escape police custody, and two counts of never licenced person drive on road – prior offence.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 29 August 2024).

Inquiries are ongoing.
