Man Arrested After Woman's Body Found in Gunnedah

A man has been arrested after a woman's body was located in Gunnedah this morning.

About 8.20am (Friday 25 October 2024), officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a property Henry Street, following reports of a concern for welfare.

On arrival, police located the body of a woman. She is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be aged in her 50's.

A man, aged 29, was arrested at the scene and taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he is assisting police.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the man and woman are known to each other.

A crime scene has been established which will be forensically examined by specialist police.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
